Kincaid wins, Greaves sets track record
Aug 29, 2008
It was a huge success for the Forest County Potawatomi Racing Team at the biggest event in off-road history at the Crandon International Off-Road Raceway on Friday night.
After a great parade in downtown Crandon, where drivers showed off their vehicles and handed out hats, stickers and signed autographs, it was time to get to business on the track.
In the Pro 4 qualifying Curt LeDuc set a track record with a time of 1:23.48 but just two drivers later it was Johnny Greaves in his Forest County Potawatomi Monster BFGoodrich Toyota that would break the track record by almost a second with a time of 1:22.66.
While there was no racing for Greaves, Gerald or Evans, Jeff Kincaid grabbed the crowds attention all on his own.
Kincaid blew out of the gates nose to nose with Steve Federiko, but Kincaid's Forest County Potawatomi Traxxas BFGoodrich Toyota pulled away from the field early.
There was one man that worked his way to the front to make Kincaid work for the win, Chad Hord worked and worked to take the lead but was unable to do so. Kincaid won the Decision at Sundown for the second year in a row, winning the Forest County Potawatomi Trophy, wreath and a $20,000 posted purse.
Ben Wandahsega also raced his first of two races with a fourth place finish. In the first turn Wandahsega was caught in a wreck but was able to avoid damage. However, he was almost a half of a lap back of the leaders.
He closed the gap and after Dan Baudoux spun out it was a tight finish at the line but Wandahsega had to settle for fourth place.
That was just day one of the three day event. Look for the whole Potawatomi Racing team to succeed in the weekend part of the races.
