All Potawatomi Off-Road drivers podium at WSORR

Aug 11, 2008

Dominant is the word you are looking for if you’re trying to explain the performance of the Potawatomi Racing team in the eighth and ninth rounds of the World Series of Off-Road Racing in Bark River, MI Saturday and Sunday.

All four FCP Racing drivers that were present at the races finished on the podium in at least one of the two rounds. The No. 4 Forest County Potawatomi Traxxas Toyota Pro Light truck driven by Jeff Kincaid did exceptionally well, taking his third sweep of the season with wins in both rounds and extending his points lead.

Kincaid had quite the stretch of bad luck after winning the first four rounds of the year. At Bark River, MI in rounds five and six Kincaid blew tires in each of the races leading to a ninth and sixth place finish. This time around there was a different strategy. Instead of going straight for the front at the start of the race Kincaid waited back and picked off one position at a time, working his way to the front after only a few laps. He now holds a commanding lead going into the final weekend of the WSORR.

The No. 297 Forest County Potawatomi Toyo Chevy driver Ben Wandahsega also had a great weekend with a second place finish in round nine and a first place finish in round ten. Home town favorite Wandahsega had a first and fourth place finish in Bark River last time around but bettered himself looking to take over second place in the Super Truck points standings.

Matt Gerald and his No. 195 Forest County Potawatomi Amsoil Goodyear 1600 Light Buggy had a rough start to the weekend with a 13th place finish in round nine after a brake line broke half way through the race causing him to slow in order to even finish. Round ten was a different story as Gerald worked his way through the crowd and finished in second place, just behind points leader and good friend Mike Vanden Heuvel.

In the Pro 2 class No. 4 Forest County Potawatomi driver Evan Evans had a great run in round nine that lead to a second place finish. Evans had a second place finish last time at Bark River and was just four points out of second place in one of the most heated categories in all of off-road racing. Round ten wasn’t as friendly to Evans who after holding onto second place for most of the race blew an engine and was unable to finish.

Overall, the Forest County Potawatomi Racing Team had an exceptional weekend and all drivers put themselves in the perfect position to contend for the points championship, which will be decided in Crandon, WI on August 28, 29 and 30.
