Evans, Wandahsega finish 1st at Bark River
Jul 14, 2008
After a streak of bad luck Evan Evans makes his first appearance of the year on the World Series of Off-Road Racing podium with a second place finish in the PRO 2WD class on Saturday in Round 5. On Sunday he did even better, winning Round 6 and taking his first WSORR win of the season.
Ben Wandahsega in the No. 297 Super Truck also finished atop the podium, finishing first in Round 5 after a close battle the first seven laps but was able to pull away for the final lap to take the checkered flag after a frustrating weekend in Crandon, WI for Rounds 3 & 4 where he blew an engine and settled for third after his new engine had overheating problems.
The rest of the Forest County Potawatomi Racing Team did well too. Matt Gerald in the No. 195 Buggy worked his way from 22nd place to finish in sixth place on Saturday. On Sunday he started from the back of the pack again but would eventually take fourth place to hold onto his first place points standing, just barely ahead of long-time friend Mike Vanden Huevel.
PRO Light Pickup No. 4 driver Jeff Kincaid had a rough weekend after taking back-to-back first place finishes at Crandon. Kincaid blew a tire in Round 5 after leading the entire race. It was bad news again at the start of Round 6 when Kincaid was rammed into the wall and ended up flipping and ended up on top of another truck. The race was cautioned but Kincaid was unable to fix his truck until the race restarted. After falling two laps down he finished near the back of the pack.
